(I posted about a dozen of her earlier pieces too which I thought showed a bit more of the lyricism I associate with 'mild cubism' but these are her two official entries.)

This one is from Yarraki, who did it on (his wife) Mum23's page (so maybe that makes it hers by right of eminent domain or something)

and this one is from Mum herself:

puzzler sent this our way, from her archives (hence ineligible):

Thought I'd seen a fresh puzzler entry, but I guess I imagined it. How sad. Oh well.

These were posted by GingerNinja, but I think only the first is from within our time zone (the two others are older)

And that's it, unless something else arrives while I'm pondering all these....

...here's a postscript, done partly because I was feeling left out, and partly because five's brooklyn bridge got my competitive juices flowing... of course it doesn't count... but I am fond of it, so here it is again:

So I don't lose track of anything, I guess I'll assemble the ones I'm 'shortlisting'... with occasional comments when I feel bad about eliminating someone:

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=103807

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104232

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104089

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104218

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104548

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104172

(Mrozowski's are not on this shortlist, but judging from from her gallery, she could have won this thing if she'd put her mind to it.)

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=103991

(There are some pieces in GingerNinja's gallery that come closer to this challenge that the one she sent in for it, and I think she could have had a shot at winning.)

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=103892

Omigosh! I just saw Yarraki's gallery... These SHOULD be on this shortlist, and I'm sure they would be if invited to be here... so I'll take the liberty of including them...
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=103989
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=103736
This one doesn't fit the challenge, but I'm posting it here because it seems to have been unnoticed, no votes at all yet:
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=102922

This wasn't entered, and probably isn't close enough to the mild cubist idea to fit, but it kind of has the spirit, the depth, the gentle lyricism... it's from Mum...
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104215

Polenta is another one I'm leaving off the shortlist, but who could have won it, judging from her gallery, many samples of which I posted earlier here. Her submission are certainly angular enough to be considered rather cubist, but angularity isn't high on my list of criteria.

Shanley, too, might win if I were judging people's archives... His gallery is crawling with mild cubes... He has exactly the kind of vision and spaciness and boldness and flashes of genius, and occasional lyric poetry, that belong here. If you go look at his gallery, you'll get a pretty good idea of what this challenge was about... and he gives us wildness as well as mildness... But the one piece he actually entered just doesn't do much for me.

Same with Doug — lots of promising stuff in his gallery, but one official entry that's not quite on target...

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=103584 (Clorophilla's others are okay but this one is the real contender)

and now we arrive at danila, and then five... definitely both finalists (I had assumed the only finalists until taking another look, or several looks, and these others)... but before I start trying to find favorites among theirs, I'm going to close this message, which is getting way too long, and then try to whittle it down

As an aside... I'm tempted to consider these... I expect Featherhawk will be taken aback to discover he's a Mild Cubist. Well, he's a borderline case, anyway...

Oh no...my ego gets sometimes uncontrolable for smaller reasons than that. Thank you for the appreciations Chelydra. I terribly regret I hadn't have much time lately, and unfortunately things are getting crowdier with every second in my 'offline' life, to call it this way. I've been trying to sneak in here at least to take a look. Glad I passed the torch to somebody who has heaten up the forum with such a (well...funny thing, but i failt to see the mild side of this...in terms of controlabilty of course ) wild challenge. It helped me a lot to clear up some ideas. Between those intriguing conversations and (here partially, on artist gallery pages too) and trying to understand what Five calls 'process', things got pretty close to a boiling point for my mind. I still have a lot to digg, but this challenge has built some serious 'documentation'. Thank you all for the experience you have shared! It really feels good to get a little more serious about art. Having no background whatsoever in this field( my only advantage is being curious enough to read and contemplate, think and then think some more), I found the examples in this challenge (and also the ones in 'exploring art') as great lessons.
Back to enjoying this .

Another aside:
two from Indigo I'm tempted to add here.... or three
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104601
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104631
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104641
... also just a borderline case, not really hardcore mild cubism...
so now I'll try to get back to the task at hand...

chelydra

Holy cow! That little stack of indigo's three pieces is stunningly handsome, is it not? If I were judging that trio as a single entry it would blow away all the other entries. Hmmm.
This is VERY tempting.

Hi Shanley, I won't reply now because I'm trying to not get any more distracted than I am already, but thanks for being a good sport and saying nice things (as you always do, and worthwhile nice nice things at that)

chelydra, while you're pondering.... can I just rule my picture out? http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=104089 I had no intention of entering it, really, because it isn't original. I only put it in because of your invitation, and to show willing. If you chose it over other people's original work, I would be mortified! Thanks for your support, and I will tell yarraki about your support of him, too! I have enjoyed this challenge, and still hope to produce something worthy of being here.... I look forward to seeing what ends up 'winning'. You have obviously inspired people with this one!

I think I can resolve this by awarding Indigo the Serendipity Prize. I hope this doesn't hurt anyone's feelings, but I think this accidental vertical triptych of Indigo's is just about the most beautiful thing I've seen in all of TD. (True, twas I who assembled the triptych, but I had no idea I was doing it, so the credit is all Indigo's.)

Okay, that's out of the way now.

Back to the actually challenge-judging task...
