... and since I've already handed five the Best Mild Cubist Award, and about seven awards to Danila, I don't feel to bad about picking clorophilla's tree. Come to think of it, clorophilla said she's away until Sunday, and I'm not sure we can wait that long for a new challenge. I wonder if that should be a factor? It's grossly unfair if it is.

Well before I start to think to think about it too hard, it's clorophilla.

The freshness, almost naeivité (I've tried about ten spellings of that word now and my spell-checking says no to all of them), of clorophilla's tree is really closer to my personal idea of Mild Cubism than the heavier, more sophisticated and finished work from Danila and five. It has fresh air in it. It has that Mild Cubist sense of space. So the light, breezy, lively tree gets the Best Picture Award.

Dreamy gets a Mild Cubist Finalist Award, because I've already given out all my more creative award ideas.

My real problem with Dreamy's figure was its lumpiness, which is appropriate for the subject, certainly, but I just don't associate lumpiness with Mild Cubism. Mild Cubism is also not associated with heavy emotion, I don't think. So my whim (Q's word) went elsewhere.

Danila and five gave us art with more depth and complexity. They gave us amazing COLLECTIONS of entries. That's why I said I have "serious misgivings" — not because I have any misgivings at all about the tree choice.

And thank YOU, chelydra, for creating and tending one of the most intriguing threads in TD ...a true keeper.

For the record (if I've counted right -- I was doing RL work and took to just peeking in here every few minutes and totalling things up on a miniscule post-it-note), this challenge garnered 112 works by 20 members.

Of course that includes the ones who got seriously involved or merely wandered in and ran in terror (but left a footprint - who knows how many were sneakier/silenter than that!), or even who never actually showed up at all but whose works were hauled in by the chyledric bootstrap...

53 old works were shown. "Old" = anything with an ID number earlier than 103365 (kmkagle's homage to Lynn Redgrave) or 103366 (animallvr101's "This Little Light of Mine"), both done at the same minute as chelydra's formal announcement of this theme.

59 new works made it in by the time chel handed off the baton to Danila (and of those 59, 15 ARE by Danila, 8 by five, and 4 by clorophilla)

Well I don't want to do portraits or skulls, becuase (a) I'd feel terrible if I won another chellenge right away, and (b) I'd feel even more terrible if I didn't, and (c) I'd feel most terrible of all if I sat it out
