How would you throw a party, using exactly ten words?
It depends who the party was and whether they struggled.

What would you name your new pet goldfish?
The Mighty Finn.

What was the first book you read (don't count your preschool books) that was not required reading at school?
Our grandparents had a set of 1930's childrens encyclopedias, locked away in a glass case. We were occasionally allowed to read the encyclopedias (I must have been around 6 or 7 at the time) and we treated them as though they were sacred … they were a mine of information and games designed to stimulate the brain. We read them from cover to cover several times and were eventually presented with them to take home as we were the only grandchildren who ever asked to look at them. Of course we treasured them.
The first novel to make a lasting impression on me was 'An Old Captivity' by Nevil Shute.
I still search for out of print books by Norah Lofts and A. L. White; two novelists from whom I've learned more history than I ever learned in School.

Do you shut down/ unplug electronic devices during a thunderstorm?
Having had two answerphones zapped in my absence, I rely on surge protectors.

Have you ever been to the seashore/ocean?
Yes. I won't bore you with a full list but it includes, Atlantic; North Sea; Irish Sea; Baltic; Indian Ocean; Mediterranean; Dead Sea …

Have you ever worn a wig or a hairpiece?
Briefly, in my tewnties, when straight hair was THE thing, but it drove me insane (never recovered).

If you were given a $100 gift certificate to a clothing store what would you buy?
Jeans and well fitting trousers (pants, strides, whatever).

What sport would you like to become good at?
If I was younger and free of arthritis, it would be horse riding.

Your Grandfather left you a huge mounted Moose head in his will from a moose he had shot and killed himself. Would you keep it, try to trade it for something else from the estate or sell it?
I'm sure grandad won't mind if I give it to one of my brothers. Whenever I see a large animals head on a wall, I always think it must have been doing a ton to come through there.

Would you attend a religious service (of a religion you are not associated with) just out of curiosity?
Yes. I have done several times.

puzzler

1. How would you throw a party, using exactly ten words?
Buy too much stuff and spend days eating it up!

2. What would you name your new pet goldfish?
What's the point - they never come when you call!

3. What was the first book you read (don't count your preschool books) that was not required reading at school?
Like login, I had a children's encyclopaedia. I've always liked fact better than fiction.

4. Do you shut down/ unplug electronic devices during a thunderstorm?
Sometimes, if I remember. We don't get that many thunderstorms.

5. Have you ever been to the seashore/ocean?
I live in Britain, we are an island nation, so that's a yes.

6. Have you ever worn a wig or a hairpiece?
Only in amateur dramatics and they always felt horrible!

7. If you were given a $100 gift certificate to a clothing store what would you buy?
If I could change it for a £100, then a skirt, top and jumper, but it would probably take me so long to decide what style and colour, that I would give up and come home empty handed - that's what usually happens!

8. What sport would you like to become good at?
Tennis.

9. Your Grandfather left you a huge mounted Moose head in his will from a moose he had shot and killed himself. Would you keep it, try to trade it for something else from the estate or sell it?
I can tell from his gift, that he never loved me!

10. Would you attend a religious service (of a religion you are not associated with) just out of curiosity?
I'm not that curious and not religious, but I happily go when invited.
