wow...

Altogether this thread now has well over 50 newly created entries by 20 people... PLUS 14 clever copies by Lynnspotter, who had already been working from each birthday person's classic avatar in their chosen palette.

I think that occasionally broadening the strict approach of "do an essentially exact copy but change the palette" did lead to several fascinating variations.

It was a bit startling at the beginning to find my own stuff being used so often, but in the end things balanced out well.

The tigers were a hit, and the later variants grew, if possible, even richer in feeling.

General consensus seems to be that the original artists chose the most effective palette for the image, strongest colors and tonalities, most cooperative shapes, angles and backgrounds.

BUT... "best" wasn't really the point. This exercise was pure exploration. I always learn things when I allow myself the luxury of actually going through the steps!

This was also a lovely opportunity to revisit some wonderful older works.

Several guests came by just to join in the conversations, too.

GREAT chat, by the way... thanks so much for all your input! It was both playful and informative.

I'll miss this game... tho' of course nothing says we can't just go on doing these silly things on our own (or even posting 'em back here in this thread!)

But now it's time to give someone else the chance to build a "Challenge" of their own choosing... and I think it's fitting that it should go to the delightfully besotted individual who contributed the most entries (over one third), including some of the most whimsical variants ......Five!

Five, congratulations. Your copies were amazing and you really got into the spirit of things.

Qsilv, thanks for this brilliant challenge. It will have a long lasting effect on me and I think the idea may carry on indefinately. Not only was it fun to do, it also broadened the 'possibilities' ...

Congrats Five...it is amazing to me to see how much this exercise influenced the work of all who participated (myself included). You did some wonderful drawings and I cannot wait to see what you come up with for a new challenge.

Qsilv, thanks for the fun challenge.
