It's fairly close to reality- I'm still not really comfortable with beads, I may try again in Animals

Don't know how to draw freckles or wrinkles well, but this is close.

Well, I feel like I know some of you a little better now! What fantastic portraits we've seen so far...

There are a little over 24 hours to get your portraits in, so anybody else who'd like to enter, don't leave it too long! I'm sure we'd all love to see some more of you.

This decision is going to be extraordinarily difficult... I wish that it could be done by a democratic vote! Can everybody win?? Lol!

Humbly adding my little doodle...but let me say I've enjoyed others' portraits tremendously.

(smiles) yep, everybody can win, mum... but you've got to pass the baton to only one!

Wandering around looking at other stuff today, I found both a really neat hummingbird and a totally delightful portrait by someone who only drew a handful of pix and then disappeared over a year ago. A real loss, imnsho.

rsl1's self-portrait, titled "crow's feet"--

Great to see some last minute arrivals at our little party... it gets merrier by the day!

I've realised that my wording for the deadline was a little ambiguous. As we still have people posting their portraits, I'll make the deadline 23.59 on Monday, 31 May (TD time), not Sunday night as I had originally planned. Don't want anybody missing out!

Yikes! The moment I’ve been dreading!

I must say that I have really enjoyed watching as each of you revealed your portraits. If TD is as much about community as it is about art, then this community just got a little richer. Thank you all for sharing yourselves with the rest of us.

It has surprised me that so many of you were brave enough to draw realistic pictures of yourselves, and also how many of you look so much like the personality that comes across from your comments.

But, only one can have the baton passed to them, as Qsilv has already pointed out! At this point, I feel like leaving to make a cup of tea, or wash dishes, or anything else rather than make a decision!

Looking again at the pictures….

This is difficult to judge because there is more than people’s art at stake… to some extent you have all laid a little piece of yourselves on the line. Everybody’s portraits just shine with ‘who they are-ness’…. I love that!

First, the easy bit! It was fabulous to see the older self-portraits (thank you to those who found them!) but it seems to be generally accepted that they can’t be considered for the challenge (which makes my job here a little easier) so I’m very happy to run with that thought! Angelia submitted a self-portrait which I thought was striking, but she said it didn’t look like her at all, so it seems fair to rule that one out. (?)

Marky, Matthew and mrozowski revealed beautiful, sensitive eyes...

Arw65 and malini submitted pictures which were beautiful portraits of beautiful subjects...

Chelydra submitted four portraits (and has subsequently deleted three) that revealed his wicked sense of humour, and stevedover1965 also gave us a humorous glimpse at himself, as did marg with a couple of her pictures (at least, I’m assuming she doesn’t really look like either of those pics!)

Sheftali’s ‘humble doodle’ is gorgeous, and clorophilla comes across as a beautiful, fun person. I think that evelinuks’s portrait is amazing too, especially given her youth!

Artistically, in my very humble opinion, five and Qsilv deserve the baton for their pictures (although I found the light in mrozowski’s portrait really wonderful, and arw’s pictures were brilliant too. Dreamy’s portrait made of animals was also exceptional … this is too hard! )

Some of you did more than one self-portrait! Without exception, those who did this managed to produce pictures which actually looked like the same person… an amazing achievement in itself!

The pictures which moved me the most were Qsilv’s ‘life cycle’ and Hazer’s ‘Baby H’. I think, ultimately, that this is the only criterion on which I can fairly judge this challenge…

…just looking again…

… and Qsilv has it! I love this picture… six portraits in one (although the last one has to be pure speculation!) It is beautiful, revealing and clever and tells the story of each and every one of us…

So, thanks everyone for participating and sharing, and congratulations to all of you!

Over to you, Qsilv!

Great choice mum! Congrats Q!- I'm looking forward to the next Challenge!

lol.... oh good grief... er... I mean.. thank you very much, mum! (most of all for your comment about pictures/concepts moving you) That 'life cycle' was so outside the norm it didn't occur to me that I'd get the baton with it.

Now I need to spend a little time to see what's been done previously and what's been talked about...

Hey folks? I'm open to suggestions for the new theme.

(heading off for caffeine... )
