One of our local radio stations used to have a segment called Boots and Salutes. I thought it might serve some purpose here, as there are so many users, even with the update feature I find I don't always have time to comment like I used to.

I'd like to begin by saluting those of you who are someones Valentine today. To have someone to love and be loved by is such a gift.

I also want to salute the friends I've made here on TD and say what a blessing you all have been to me.

Hazer, you're a peach!

This is an interesting idea... we'll see if it takes off or not, but I can surely see the use for it.

Lately I've been flying around leaving the occasional 5 vote but with no comments at all... (sort of a hybrid 'tween a tooth fairy and the reverse of a one-vote-bandit) ...no time to think of what to say, unwilling to leave rubber-stamp comments, but a definite desire to leave a fast smile in passing...

Hazer, I am so glad you came up with this. TD has been an amazing experience for me. It has been the catalyst for picking up my brushes and pencils again and create probably some of the strongest work I have ever done. ThinkDraw has made me not afraid to put the art "out there." Thank you everyone for your comments and encouragement, your critiques and suggestions and making me think in new ways.

Also, like Q, I have found that often I just have time to place a vote and run. I wish there were a few more hours in the day to comment on everything, but it just "ain't" happening!

We should look a little more at miss Gingerninja. I think she is an upcoming talent. Her work gets stronger and stronger. At her age, I think she has a wonderful grasp of artistic concepts.

A salute to Top 5 !! You're work is amazing!

I'd also like to salute some of the great artists whose work didn't get into Top 5 and say that sometimes 5 just isn't enough!

a salute to all TD-ers...I'm starting to have less and less time for TD and I'm afraid this is not going to change any time soon. tried to keep up with all new pics, but I'm sure I've been missing lots lately . Not to mention the gallery is running faster and faster each day. Anyway, just wanted to assure you of my appreciation and encourage you to keep up the good work.

A salute and big thanks to whoever has been leaving votes anonymously on some of my pics. I was especially touched to see a couple of votes on the pics that the grand kids did over the weekend! Thanks whoever you are!

I showed the 5 year old the pic I did of her Papa, (feeling quite proud of myself ), and was informed that it didn't look like Grandpa at all. Trust the kids to set you straight...lol!!

A salute to all the wonderful folks that volunteered their time and talents to raise money for cancer victims in northern Alberta o the Aug. long weekend.
I don't know if any of them are on TD to read this but I would like to share their story with those of you that do read this.

We were invited to attend an event called " Haying in the 30s" , a completely nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to raise money to support people who are dealing with cancer. Money is sent directly to the patient to be used for their treatment, travel expenses, etc.

Many volunteers come together to put on a weekend featuring teams of horses that are used to demonstrate how farming was done before tractors were used. A pioneer village has been set up with buildings and their furnishings that have all been donated. So far it includes a couple of houses, a general store, church, blacksmiths shop, saloon, etc.
There were demonstrations of horse powered equipment such as a road grader, a well borer, plows and haying equipment. There was also a steam tractor that powered a threshing machine.

There were over 3000 people in attendance over the weekend and all the meals were provided free of charge cooked and served by volunteers. Quite an undertaking when you don't know just how many people will show up until they get there!
All they asked is that people make a donation to the cancer fund.
What a wonderful weekend! Everyone was so friendly, we met a lot of new friends I'm sure we'll see there again next year.

Hi guys!
29 september marks one year on TD for me. I know I have neglected 'Shalney ' lately, nevertheless I remembered this date, so I thought I'd 'drop by' just to say hello. I really miss drawing here, maybe I'll get some free time one of this days. Meanwhile, I see you've done a wonderful job here. Keep up the good work!
