I think back in the spring a couple of TDer's
mentioned reading A Painted House by John Grisham and one said it was her favorite, I wish I
could remember who it was. Anyway I got a copy
and just finished it and I LOVED IT! I was sad to
get to the end. I want to say thank-you......
Any other good recommendations out there?

Another is 'Charley: A Voice from The Past' By C. W. Ayers- It's a hard one to find. It is a very special book to me and if any of you manage to find and read it I'll tell why

I currently love to read out loud with my 5 year old... We are currently reading book 1 of Harry Potter... (she will have to wait for the later books as they get a bit intense)...

...My Favorite...

I loved Gregory Maguire's 'Wicked', and the second sequel to it called 'A lion Among Men'.
The book in between 'Son of a Witch' was just not very interesting.

matthew, I preferred 'the Butter Battle Book' to 'Hop On Pop', I think it spoke more to the problems of modern society.

I'm a great fan of Graham Greene and Somerset Maugham. They are both excellent writers.

Two words - Aligator Pie
Best book to ever come out of Canada!

Shanley, is that the same Graham Greene who's a Canadian Native actor? If so I had no idea he was a writer.

No Dragon, not the same person.

My two favorite books are "Ariel" by Stephen R. Boyette, and "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky. I'm also a big fan of Mercedes Lackey's books, particularly her Valdemar books, of which there are many. And I absolutely love Stephen King...he's easily my favorite author. But, yeah. I love books...LOVE them.

I just reread "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. It's a rather dark topic, but brilliantly written so that the reader isn't aware of how dark the topic might be. I'd encourage you to read it.

Perhaps my favorite author is Richard Bach. I've always loved "Jonathan Livingston Seagull", but even more I love his book "Illusions. The Story of a Reluctant Messiah". His books are generally rather short and quick reads, but full of wisdom. I've read all of his books, even his memoir.

Thanks spam...I googled Sebastian Barry and The Secret Scripture looks very interesting. He also wrote Long, Long Way which looks good too. I'm going
to check them out for sure. I'll check out some used bookstores and if not my son works part time at Indigo ( I picked my TD name before he got the job..LOL) It's a book store and I hope to find them there. I'll let you know.
