I made a pattern for the bags I told you all about and I have been making one bag after another so I have some homemade gift to give. They are coming out nice. I buy 2 1/4 yards at 52-4 inches wide and I can make two bags that were cut out on the fold and one bag cut out with no fold sewn together from two pieces at the shoulder so that I actually get three bags out of 2 1/4 yards. I haven't used one yet.

What have you done interesting lately?

I bought 4 new pool tables for our pool room... I am also my own table mechanic... So I have been setting them up, leveling them, covering the rails & bed with new cloth & hanging the lights.
I finished 2 1/2 of them then got sick... I am feeling a tad better today, so I will probably go in and work some more... When I finish with those 4, it will be time to recover the other 18 tables with new cloth...
Got all the paperwork & red tape done to apply for our liquor license... Now am waiting for the government...
Hopefully I will get everything finished & be back to drawing before you know it...

Matthew, I'm sorry you were ill. So much work! Is your place currently a BYOB? Here, you need to wait until a license becomes available, is that so where you live? We have a pool hall about 2 mins. from my home. It caters I would say to, 16-40. It's a dry hall since teenagers do go in. We have some Sports Bars but I'm guessing nothing like your establishment. Good Luck!

As a matter of fact, the most interesting thing I've done today is, noses, which are very, very difficult to do! Yes, eyes. Not Bad. Thanks DMarcella!

You're welcome KM. Matthew I was thinking you got sick because of all the hard work you have been doing to ready to open, is this the case or did you just come down with something? I hope you feel better soon.

We have beer & wine... just adding liquor... Teens are welcome but can't drink... I came down with flu... My mom was in hospital with low white blood count when I got sick... Glad she didn't get it 'cause it coulda killed her... I can't visit her while I am sick though...

Teens aren't even allowed in any est. that serves or sells alcohol without an adult! They get hold of it anyway.

I was under the impression that you were open or is this a "phase" opening? That makes sense?

10. 31 Mar 2009 08:24

matthew

Yes... We have been open for a year & 1/2... Just upgrading...

They call places that serve only wine BYOP. You pay a corkage fee. I know they do serve alcohol which covers liquor, and I believe beer. Licenses are very expensive here! If you go into a bar and buy a drink you are charged a 7 or 10% tax! That's garbage! By the time you pay all of these things you can't afford to buy a drink. They are charging people this tax for take out of 6-packs which isn't legal. These laws are not clearly defined.

Big government... America asked for it... A law was just passed making it illeagle to smoke in my pool room... 85 % of my customers smoke... I pay the fines because I wont abide by the new law...

your so right about big government matthew, scares me!!

when I moved back to Idaho 20 some years ago I bartended and they were messing with the liquer laws..
drinking age was 18 and they changed it to 21 with a grandfather clause for the ones that were already over 18... made for an interesting night when we got a run of college kids.
then and this is my favorite, they decided to cut off sales of beer and wine at midnight, BUT you could drink hard liquer till 2a.m. that one didn't last long...everyone is willing to switch to takillya!!

I wish you all the best with your business matthew!! I use to play a mean game of pool, not sure if I could play on a level table with straight cue sticks though, lol

I no long smoke but I am so against these laws! I can't see where the govt. has the right to come into a persons business, their livelihood and dictate what can and cannot take place! Some people that's the only peace they have in their lives and get to enjoy a smoke and a drink for a few minutes before picking up their lives again! It's hurting the business people. A domino effect if you will.

I might be mistaken, but, I think here that if you don't abide by the law, they can take your license or something. What can they do in your town?

Here, in Ohio the smoking ban has been in effect for about a year. Many small bars have closed up, or went private/with locked doors! But I live 3 blocks from Michigan, and the bars and eateries across the line are the ones pulling in the business now!! The government has too much control, and Americans have been asleep while this and much more has happened. I was a older mom when my son was in grade school, and was very dissapointed as to what was taught in American history/one yr American Hist, and the next yr something else. So out of 12 yrs of school he had 6yrs of American History! Thanks to the government, and the influence starts at a young age. So, when will people wake up and discover whats going on?? Do we dare say the S word? I went through the 60's and that was nothing compared to whats going on now. When I seen Matthews 911, (which we should never forget) I always think how would Americans accept us being a daily battleground here! Running, hiding and the hell. So we do live in the best country. Just time to realize it.

I am 2 blocks away from the county line... You can smoke in the county, but not in the city where I am... So you can understand me telling the city where they can stick it... If it was a state wide ban that would be one thing, but I am not going to let my customers walk 2 blocks to get what they want...

Oh, I vented, and forgot the forum, anything interesting lately? Well I am a decorative free style painter, and have been painting some childrens furniture as of late! Also had both my knees replaced and could not stand for even 5 min. Well now I can stand forever and last fall started painting inside our house, so trying to finish that up before the hot weather! Our son builds and flys RC large scale planes and helis' . 33rd scale. Well one has been in my living room all winter! now that its warm, its gone!! Yeah!! So I am looking forward to nice weather, just to get out. TD has been a winter life saver, and I hope to continue during the warm season too.

I think here they are trying to dictate to private clubs! It's sad! They keep raising the price of cigarettes using the money for whatever they want. They turn around with the excuse "people will quit smoking"! Ha! Where will they get the money next. They've started on the drinking. It's sad, really sad.
