Hi all you wonderful people

I know I haven't been here much of late due to being busy with my work. I love everyone's talent on this site and how much everyone will help to encourage others with their work in such positive, polite, helpful ways.

The suggestion I have is this: What do people feel about suggesting a topic each day such as a house or tree or this or that and we all do the topic ONLY HOWEVER if you feel like doing it. I'm not saying we all have to do this each day, only those that want to.

The reason I"m suggesting this is so those that are really, really good from years of being artist can use their natural teaching skill's to help others by giving them feedback on how it could of been improved or something added or what ever...this is not to pick on anyone work but to help bring out more of the hidden talent that is in so many out there that would love to have someone show or help them do even better.

I know for myself, I would love to have some of the artist's on this site help me by suggesting some things with my work so I can develop more in my work.

Just a suggestion and don't worry, if people are not into it at all, it's ok, I won't be offended in any way.

Winter is here where I live...snow and cold. I also take care of homeless cat's by building them insulated homes and place them in the woods where they all live...Winter time is a scary time with it being so cold out there with there new born babies...most don't make it through that have just been born at this time.

Take good care all you wonderful people.

Peace and love with in our little world.

Debbie

Hi Debbie! I think that's a great idea. I am sure I could benefit from a 'tutorial'. Do you know how to set it up? Maybe you could teach buildings and landscapes, as you are so good at that. I always enjoy your work!

I love this idea too- I'm not here very often anymore either, but I'd love to have some help developing my art. even those who recently discovered their own artistic ability-Like mum23- may have some helpful suggestions.

we have a - "How to" ... Tips & Tools- thread in the community forum that helped me- http://www.thinkdraw.com/forumPosts.php?topicId=469

great idea Debbie!

Hi Debbie and all,
A touch of humor?
Rule number one: FIRST THINK
THEN DRAW
This means :
DON'T FIRST DRAW AND THEN THINK.

Normal

That depends, Polenta, on whether you want entertainment/relaxation or striving after an artisic goal. Seems to me each month we have a new series of tutotials by using PlayBack on any of the Top 5 that appeal to us. Or any that we notice as we drop in.

Sometimes, a suggested topic does get the creative juices flowing. That's why Fun Tuesday is fun and why we sometimes participate in the Showcase. Basically I think we've got it covered. That said, feel quite free to suggest a daily topic and see if folks are inclined to join in. New possibilities are always welcome.

Okey Normal. I usually make a very simple sketch in pen or pencil, only less than a minute. This indicates if I will be able to achieve something. If not, I don't even try it. Choosing the theme is also first of course. What about the choice of theme? Is it easy for you people?

For me Polenta is so different, I rarely join the Fun Tuesday for example, because I get the inspiration from "inside", if there's a topic, also many time it feels like it's imprisoning me and my fantasy. Another very important point for me is: I don't think and then draw, mostly I don't know what I'm going to do, I'm not into copying anything, with very rare exception, usually I start from the middle of the space, usually white, with any of the little pieces, and I start to build..what, most of time is not so clear at the beginning, but it evolves by itself, many time I change the back ground while doing the pic. and this gives me more ideas, till I am satisfied...We are all so different , watching the PB of others gave me so much more knowledge...and passion, and the desire to improve, or to do different!!!May be I could give some ideas ? I wish!

Interesting description of how Danila makes a drawing. I bet each of us has a different technique. Well, I admit I must use TD more as a challenge or a puzzle than because of any art. I've already said somewhere here that putting one piece next to the other is SO RELAXING for me.

i'm totally with you Polenta as it is so relaxing for me too!!I find this the best way for me to dissolve all the tension accumulated during the day, where I am the strong decision maker, problems solving etc and have to transform my fantasy into very realistic limited actions, but here..my fantasy, my inner world finds new way to come out!!

Nice feedback everyone...remember the suggestion is only if one wants to par take in this...also remember the main reason is so we can offer ourselves to be open for creative, positive feedback with our work....also remember for others to offer any help if anyone asks for it. I know for myself I'd love to be able to ask one of these great artists for help with how to do things...teaching and learning is thinking and drawing also.

I"m not in anyway asking that everyone do this, only those that want to do it. If anyone would like to be first with theam suggestion and those par taking it would be nice to offer any help for others if anyone has artistic questions

Rescued a little kitty on it's last leg's of life about four days ago...seems to now be doing very well, think it will make it...sure hope so. I've been getting up every few hours through the night to feed and whip it down...lol...been wobbly on my feet lately with interrupted sleep.

Be well, happy, safe all.

The little kitten we tried to save we named Chance...died last night in it's sleep. It past painless and in peace...I cried for a tad...when I buried him a few other cat's sat around me as we place Chance into his grave. Cat's just amaze me how much they can be like us at times. Sure wish Chance could of lived for us to care and love...but it was his time for some reason...

Hope all is well, healthy, and in good spirit's.

You're all wonderful people...

Debbie

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss DebbieBreau, but I'm glad that Chance got to spend his last days in a warm, loving place where people cared for him.

Oh my. I'm sorry too DebbieBreau and echo Dragon's sentiments. I admire you very much for what you do to help kitties. They are the very special.

I do have a question about drawing to pose for everyone. When you have used a lot of pieces in one spot and start to get the white showing through, I guess there are too many pixels, what can you do about it. Sometimes you don't want to undo pieces. I have had some luck just covering it. Just wondered if there is something I don't know about. Thanks.

Dragon

mdawrcn, in my experience this happens when I've used the same type of piece in a small area a lot. I do find that once you submit the picture the white spot doesn't show up though it will in the playback. It I do have it happen I try to see if a different type of piece will work in the same place or else I try to ignore it and hope everything looks good in the end.

@Debbie - cats are so much more aware than they generally get credit for. I keep wondering where that reputation for independent and aloof came from... people who just shut out the obvious?! Been around cats, dogs, horses and people all my life... known a good many bores in each category EXCEPT the cats.. lol

Qsilv

@mdawrcn - there are some articles floating around the 'net on that white flaw issue, all pretty dauntingly technical. The short of it seems to be that there's a mathematical glitch in Flash but it doesn't occur til a rather huge number of pieces repeat. Then it proliferates and it doesn't seem possible to cancel it back out. Sooo, Dragon's got the right idea... just back up as far as you can stand to, and start tucking in other shapes here and there.

When you know you're going to be needing a ton of repeated pieces, try finding other bits you can work on during that progression, breaking it up as you go along.

G'luck!

DebbieBreau back to you original suggestion. I like it, but don't think I have time to take part in a theme suggested for a day. However, I have always thought that I would like for another artist to take something I have drawn that they are interested in and do it themselves incorporating ways they see it as being better with the emphasis being there is not really any right or wrong. Some methods just appeal to people in different ways and some people have more time to devote, etc. I think it may be a way to open people's eyes to new processes and methods. I have hesitated to suggest it because it is easy for people's feeling to get hurt. I for one, I think, would be flattered for someone to rework something I have drawn. Just my thoughts.

Oh, and thanks Dragon and Qsilv for answering my question.

DebbieBreau

Oh mdawrcn...thanks so much for your suggestion. I for one love the idea. If you have given your permission as you have. I would love to try and do some of your work...it is flattering when someone thinks so much of your work and would like to try and learn something from it...also it makes you a great teacher for wanting to help another artist learn something from your work.

I only hope that when you have some time you can maybe give me some pointers if and when I do some of your work...I would love your feedback with welcoming eyes and mind.

Deb's...Debbie for long.
