I liked it better when ALL the pics were displayed, and not just the most recent. I keep missing things when the pics are replaced and filed away into the individuals galleries when a new one is created. Never liked this feature.

I keep liking the new gallery - not at all, but appreciate very much the "new users" shortcut. I always go to see what's new there.

The most popular also is interesting, although there is the bug I noticed some time ago.
For the old gallery I often use the Qsilv system, it's quite quick. Also I like to select the "last month" pics in the very first days of the month, selecting the ten palettes one at time, and "most rated" - in this way I can see nearly each interesting pic of the month, and don't miss nothing.

Those of us who remember the flaw in the old voting system (kindly eliminated by our TD hosts) may notice a flaw in the new gallery. 'Recent popular pictures' can be (and has been) manipulated. At this moment there is a picture in the number one spot with 61 comments. 60 of those comments are gobbledygook and all made by one member, elevating it to the prime position.

this is indeed true

The picture I referred to is 'Jelly bean sicles' ... not Baldur's 'test', created to check out the theory.

if you click to see all popular pictures there mine is at #1

77. 20 Dec 2012 13:40

Baldur

it took me less than 5 minutes to get there

hm... Baldur's is not there now, while the jelly bean one still is.

A (potentially) significant difference is that Baldur did almost all of his own "commenting"; the jelly bean acct was flooded with "comments" by another.

It's way easy to make secondary accounts. For TD to filter accts by whether they're from the same IP opens a whole 'nuther can of worms. Frankly it's not that hard to fake IP addresses, if it matters all that much to you to get attention.

If it were to hog more space or time, enough to really disrupt the TD game at large, poor ol' Rachel could/would take her own time and do the ban thing.

Since I don't think we "judge" based on the ones that are "popular", it's more of an oddity, or short-lived encroachment of space... a youngster zooming around the room, arms out, and occasionally making rude noises.

Experience shows that the more attention we pay them, the more it proliferates. Tempting to dish out negative reactions tho, isn't it... ;>

On the OTHER hand, following Baldur's experiment has led me to a whole new discovery (thank you, Baldur):
If you actually CLICK where it says to click -- "Recent popular pictures (show all):" -- you get a whole page of 25 recent popular pictures!

There's even one of mine there --who knew? (I know, I know, I really need to get out more...)

No, honestly, this is interesting because in THIS page, Baldur's "TEST" does show up (in what I guess is Prime Position, upper left anyway). Why doesn't it show on the initial gallery page span of 5 when the silly sickles still do?

Goodness, now I need to wait for things to shift a bit and figure out if it always drops the top left one in that intro strip of 5....

Baldur you past the TEST! but I think "Sparkle777" is a little girl too big for her shoes. I noticed awhile ago something that raised a red flag too me and her picture "Cover up your ..." is so inappropriate for a place like Think Draw. I'm sorry for being so direct but I'm really worried for what may come next. She's welcome to draw beautiful pictures but follow the rules.

Lolla, if anyone posts anything inappropriate in the galleries the site's hosts are very good about removing it.
Any one of us can alert them by sending a message. Click on the word 'FEEDBACK' in the above menu bar and a message form appears.
Baldur has done this on occasion.

I'm going to delete 'Popularity Test #2' to see if its presence on the first page is blocking 'Popularity Test' from appearing.

83. 21 Dec 2012 04:13

Baldur

Now 'Popularity Test' is back on the front page in the regular gallery section. 10 more people need to submite drwings to knock it off.
Is it possible that you can only get the recently popular status AFTER you've progressed beyond the front page?

One can also report a picture by clicking on the "report" button at the bottom of the picture. I have heard that a certain number of reports will get the picture removed.

I was going to try to do enough drawings to get Baldur's off the first page, but duh, only one of mine will show up on the page.

86. 22 Dec 2012 04:19

Baldur

well it did happen, my 'popularity test' made it to 'recently popular' section

I feel so sorry for "roadrunner23". A very pretty picture was so unnecessarily spoiled. I hope he delete this one and be able to remake it so that it can be voted for properly.

Yes, and there it happened! Another one to ruined the Christmas Spirit. Beautiful artwork over shadowed by stupidity. What a wonderful world!!!

I don't see how anything was spoiled Lolla. Many here are children. They play childish games

Have a Merry Christmas
