Speak of the devil — hi again Radrook! I came here to point out that the new system has the unintended consequence of turning anything (new or old) into "New and Popular" when Radrook and I (or anyone else) get into our long-winded rants. This is already taking up 2 of the 5 available slots — and there will be times when all 5 "New and Popular" will be just whatever long conversations (or monologues) happen to have sprouted up on random pix. And even without that issue, I much prefer the old gallery.

I also prefer the old gallery.

I appreciate the compromise. Don't feel the need of the old gallery, as we can reach it with the filters. I appreciate very much the 'new users' gallery, as it make me able to spot on the new talents in a quick way.

thank you!

I deleted my "So Nice To See You Again" picture despite receiving no requests to do so, and getting a couple of nice supportive comments asking me no to. I was tired of seeing it in the prime spot on the ThinkDraw front page, I was tired of such a public display of the endless acrimonious messaging between Radrook and me that brought it up out of obscurity at the bottom of my archives (due to the new Gallery system misidentifying it as "New and Popular", as noted above). I still would have left it alone, but the fact that it was a very weird image of female frontal nudity (not erotic or desirable, just weird) finally made leaving up there seem really irresponsible. It's one thing for dozens of little girls who visit ThinkDraw to see an image of adult female nudity that's agreeably erotic or just comfortably normal. Such images suggest they have nothing to fear and maybe something exciting to look forward to. Even dangerously exciting might be positive. But I'm not sure it's okay to have something as weird and alien as that doodle being the very first thing they see, day after day, when they come here to make their pictures of balloons and birthdays cakes and flying cats. My point is that if the gallery had not pulled it up to the top of page 1, or even if it had been in that position for a day or two and then departed again, I would not have deleted it. I quite liked it, as a memento of my first experiments here, and because I like keeping a bit of edgy weirdness hidden away to greet anyone who feels motivated to visit my oldest pix. I've deleted plenty of new and old pix but kept that one. Actually, I would be embarrassed to have any of the other marginal pix in my archives at the top of page 1 for more than a day or two, and would probably delete them too just to make room for others that deserve a prime space. I'm rambling on about this because I have a habit of rambling on which I have no intention of curing, and I routinely fill up ten or fifteen comment-boxes with my stories. I also like to engage in long dialogues now and then. These are intended to entertain or edify my visitors, or to carry on a friendly conversation, or perhaps an argument, but not to grab ThinkDraw's top spot. Perhaps you could train your gallery program to distinguish between pix that have 60 comments among two or three main participants, and those are actually earning praise from dozens of different people.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

We will definitely look into using the number of different people commenting rather than the number of comments when rating a picture as popular.

The idea of seeing all recent pictures (not just one per user) also makes sense and we can look into that. If it is just for recent pictures, how far back should it go?

Thanks again....

"The idea of seeing all recent pictures (not just one per user) also makes sense and we can look into that. If it is just for recent pictures, how far back should it go?"

Looks like I am the only one who is interested, but I think it would be handy not only to see more that one recent pic per user, but to follow a pics progress in the voting process and also to follow the comments (may regret that) on recent pictures. Two or three pages would be a great number of pics to be able to go back through.

Thanks for considering it.

Mel, in your own gallery you have four drop-down menu boxes at the top. On the left menu, click 'All Pictures' ... and you're in.

ooops ... after clicking the 'go' button on right side.

The thing I don't like about the new gallery is you have to have 4 letters or more to search. I always wanted to search dog,cat and fox but they only have 3

I agree with Jaybuddy- That is one thing that always bothered me- Why is there a lower limit?- many of my pictures i choose not to have a title so i simply put a 'space'- there is no way to search for those with shorter titles.

So it seems that to go to the OLD GALLERY we have to go to OUR OWN GALLERY and then go to ALL.
Why aren't we allowed to see it directly? The more pics, the better.

There is a "bug" in the new gallery I'd like very much to be fixed.
I'm quoting Chelydra about this:
"the new system has the unintended consequence of turning anything (new or old) into "New and Popular" (...) and there will be times when all 5 "New and Popular" will be just whatever long conversations (or monologues) happen to have sprouted up on random pix"

This is exsctly what happens, often with the (neverthless delightful) Chelydrapaedic monologues, or otherwise with chatting or other useful conversations.

here is a timely found exemple:
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=172875
at this moment in the "recent popular pictures".

Please TD could you feature the system givin a way to exclude from popular pictures those which comments are mere blabbering or chattering fron one or two persons only?

Thank you!!

I wish there were a simpler, more direct way to just get to the old gallery ..a button that said "Old Gallery (all pictures)" or just "All Pictures". I think it would be easier for new members also.

I agree with Bluemoon. The old gallery is the real gallery.

Thank you for reinstating the old gallery on Think Draw start up. You're stars in my world.

Ah ... ignore that last remark. I had saved Thinkdraw gallery to favourites. It gave me a short cut to the latest drawings.

To see the "gallery" of what's been being made recently (vs only the most recent by each artist):

In your own "My Picture Gallery", there are 4 boxes along the top.
...change the left one from "Show: [My Pictures]" to "Show [All Pictures]"
...and click "GO"

(...just leave the other 4 alone. "Theme: [All]" and "Order: [Most Recent]" and "Time: [All Time]")

The only annoyance is building the habit of clicking on My Picture Gallery (top right) INSTEAD of Think Draw GALLERY (top left).

...and please don't ask how long it took me to finally figure this out myself.... ::sigh::
