...pffffft..... ;>

an ELF in FaceBook can present as many faces as s/he wants! Seriously, you can upload jpg's and change 'em as often as you like -- keep a whole library full. My relatives have been sharing family photos this way for a couple of years --priceless! Sometimes we swap out our profile pix for a theme week, like Favorite Flower, Famous Artwork, What Actor/Actress you most resemble, What mood you're in... (uh oh!)

So for marg's alt account, that quizzical ram would be a doozy!

Dunno the best way to check out this color wheel stuff. There are a ton of books and online materials; it does get deep in a hurry. But you can play with a chart that I happen to like:
http://www.designwest.com/resources/color/index.html

What's interesting in this one is the way the author has arranged the colors in a 6 by 6 grid instead of a circle. Left to right, it shifts red to blue. Top to bottom it shifts white to black. And WITHIN each grid section, the amount of yellow increases.

I've been mulling this over and reviewing the suggestions. Here's my input:

-- I especially like the amber/golden (but not too yellow) color.
-- How about a brick (rectangle) that is mottled a tannish, dun grey that is in keeping with the somber theme but adding a bit more color? It's an easy shape for beginners and thinkers.
-- The red that Matthew suggested, which is a bit brighter than the current red/purple would be great, altho' I'm not sure about the shape.
-- I'd also love to see a royal blue in any shape for stained window effects, but unlike the one in beads that has a dark edge.
-- One last difficulty addition...how about a griffin or dragon in silver or black for the shield? The different edges would be great for creating, but simple for our younger users to decorate a shield.

I find Gothic one of the most challenging themes and consider it too dark and too time-consuming to create pictures most of the time so I usually don't draw in it. I really need to spend more time on the dark side...learning layering, negative space, the joy of just designing intricate patterns, less is more, etc ...

Hmm...I've been thiking and re-thinking about this too. Brighter colors would extend the possibilities, but quite frankly....this is one of the things I appreciate the most about gothic: very few catchy shades of colors. Actually, except for the purple, nothing can really grab the eye. The rest is subtlety, a privillege to discover some other way to make the drawing appealing.
Basically, what I'm saying is I like gothic as it is. But since changes have already been announced, I must confess I'm very curious about the outcome .

I was just now thinking about it, drawing my last pic in Gothic... I too would appreciate the amber/gold colour, and some metallic shape (armour or similar...)

Me too - I love Gothic and TD'ers are getting better and better at making use of it, but I NEED more colours - I am tired of magenta (which has the best shapes) though I still love the navy patterns. Can we have a real red, please, and a yellow or gold, and lose the unsymmetrical bits perhaps ....

From a frustrated pattern maker rather than artist.

I would love to see gold, pale blue, pale green and transparent color. And new shapes! Anything new would be fun. Thanks for any and for all.

Great timing matthew...

The 'Gothic' theme has just been updated, please let us know what you think. There is still one (probably storm-related) background to be added.

Enjoy!

Love the new pieces, the color of te new flowers is absolutely beautiful. I saw a few pics in the gallery and thought "hey I wonder how they made that color in Gothic" so I checked it out. I love the new black pieces too, they'll be great for making designs/patterns. Any possibilities of adding to the other themes?
