hi linka, the tie dye tie is a man's neck tie..the coloring is a method called tie dye where you bunch the material, tie it in knots or with elastic and dip it into the different colors of dye
9. linmar wrote:
it was very popular in the 1960's, people made their own colorful t-shirts or other clothing

i also found your comment on the language differences interesting, i had wondered how some fun tuesday themes would translate or have meaning in other languages!
11. linmar wrote:
i am not very good at art that depicts something so fun tuesday is good for me as the artistic value is secondary to the fun! i mostly do geometric designs which don't have as much meaning or expression, but i enjoy doing them and if others like them that

 is good too :)

linmar thankyou for taking time to tell me. and sure words are tricky.sometimes we would rather do without.and thats part of the bliss in here.when we tell with pics, that are silent.
14. methusalinka wrote:
but when we have to try to say..just in the few lines you gave me..there are words I have never met.everydaykindofwords to you,but completely new to me,to dye must be to dip into something..no its not that, you dip INTO DYE but sorry I donot know shat dye
15. methusalinka wrote:
oops...but I do not know what dye is! and though I was past my first youth in the sixties, I have never been aware of that way to colour ones clothes.I

and though I can and am going to look many of all them to you simple words up well I guess thats where it shows that we are from many places with very different traditions routines etc. .
17. methusalinka wrote:
but without that knowing its too difficult.but linmar why do you say that talent for doing pics with things that are for others to recognize and feel good and have fun is not a work of art.its just another one.
18. methusalinka wrote:
some can do that.you can do that. some can not.unfortunately.but thats how it is.and I can not.not make it look like what it is. not make it fun.too bad, but thats one of my limits. sorry I can not, but I can smile and wish you a goodnight.

hi linka, i did not find any of your comment negative..i agree communicating with words is difficult or awkward..pictures tell a thousand words! i am also new to FT but i don't think there are rules..someone starts a topic on tuesdays and others join in a

oh, cut off again! that reads 'others join in as the whim comes to them!'

i will try to expand on the word dye - it is to give color to something, for example to color a piece of cloth, yarn or hair..

a site i find handy for translating from one language to another is http://translate.google.com/
24. linmar wrote:
i will stop now so i am not more confusing :) it is not a waste of my time, expanding one's understanding of others and the world is another joy of TD, we share through art and friendship though we have never met in person. :)
