not sure, Baldur.. I sometimes use to show that I'm messing about, but some people, especially here on TD, seem to use them as an excuse to say something nasty - just add a silly face on the end of a comment and you can say anything you like.. ?

I've noticed that. what concerns me was that I inadvertantly used one the other day by hitting 2 perfectly innocent keys on the keyboard. The emoticon didn't show up until my message was posted. It's as if we have no control of it.
There should be a way to opt out or disable them.
