I hope you don't mind me butting in but I have a strage ritual here in my house....
we live in a townhome so we have to be careful of permanant artwork. My oldest son took permanant mark to a white wall when he was about 2-3. Let me tell you primer doesn't always cover black marker but we did find that a nice coating of hairspray helps remove most of the permanant marker so that we could primer and repaint.
After this I start an art night where everyone in the house sits down and makes a picture....their choice...oil, marker, crayons, paint, chalk whatever and I bought a few inexpensive frame that we decorate in one of out art night...no at anythime I have sveral works of art on display. The kids love it. Look forward to it...It is a little less destructive and then I have the keep sakes...The kids motivation was to frame it and show anyone who came to visit their latest creations.

Spray on chalk board? That is too awesome!

K, that art night sounds wonderful. I will probably do something like that with my daughter when she's older, but right now I'm just letting her explore creativity. I don't think it's destructive, but I am a little odd. I think it gives my house personality. My computer chair is decorated with silver permanent marker (I don't know where the marker came from, either. I had a silver permanent marker that I used to carry with me about 4-5 years ago, but haven't seen it since. o.0).

Just as long as she doesn't "decorate" you with a Sharpie some night when you're asleep!

lol. I used to 'decorate' myself with a Sharpie on a regular basis. My friends, too

I am very sure that if she "sharpied" you in the middle of the night you would sport the look quite proudly... I can almost picture it...

When my brother lived in a house with a large group of young men being 'markered' was a real threat. The rule was if you made it to your room before you passed out you were safe but any part of you outside your thresh hold was fair game. So if your legs were hanging out of your doorway they'd be covered in rude phrases and pictures when you woke up. Indeed my brother showed up at thanksgiving dinner with 'Mike blows goats' still visible on his arm (though he'd scrubbed it thouroughly to try to get rid of it) Apperantly that was the least offensive of the things written on him that night and he'd scrubbed much harder to remove the rest.

I haven't heard the term "blows goats in at least ten years, I thought I was the only one....

Years ago a friend of mine spent probably 4 or 5 hours drawing a flowering vine starting between my big toe and the next one over (does it have a name?) and running about halfway up my calf and around my ankle.

She used the colored ink pens, teal, green, pink, and ??? plus black. It lasted for only a couple of days but it looked like a real tattoo and I got fabulous compliments on it, everyone wanted to know where I'd had it done.

I won't tattoo my body in any permanent way but that was great fun.

Me and my friends used to hang out every night at dunkin' donuts. I always brought my sharpie and spent the night drawing on one or the other of them.

One night, I got profoundly bored, took a marker, and drew from my right hand fingers, all the way to my shoulder, and across my chest. It was a lot of fun.

solosater, I believe that toe is technically referred to as the little piggie that stayed home.
In my high school years I frequently drew on myself (usually something Star Trek related ) About 11 years ago (I can't believe it's been that long!) I got a tattoo - a fabulous Dragon on my right ankle and I've never regretted it. In fact ever since getting it I've wanted another, they're somehow addictive. I always tell anyone who's considering a tattoo Don't get one until you know exactly what you want. If you're in any way unsure just sit back and think about it. And of course I totally respect those people who would never get one. It's such a personal decision. (I've never regretted mine for a minute, but I've known people who have)

Baldur has a tattoo too - a flying monkey across his back, I believe. Wonder if he ever drew on himself?

Dragon, I have 2 tattoos, and I agree, they are quite addictive. I just got my second one about a month ago, and I'm already wanting another.

I am morally opposed, you could say, as I believe The Bible is to be taken literally. On the other hand I love looking at the art work on others and would never condemn them for it. In fact to be perfectly honest I believe that the "do not be tattooing the body" command was part of the Mosaic law and as a Christian I am no longer under that law but the principle is there so...

None for me.

Also, I could never stick to a particular design so I'd be a regretter.

I did have my navel pierced at one time but had to remove it for a surgery and as it had never healed (2 years of drainage and, well you get the idea) I didn't put it back in. I still have the piece, perhaps in the future when my immune system is less hypersensitive...

Baldur

Baldur has a number of tattoos and I really regret not having the money to get more right now.
The monkey can use more finishing work, his wings were never colored in.
Plus he was planned to be only the first in a a whole flock of monkeys.
The others were going to be behind him, cavorting in the distance.

Could that be a tribe or troup of monkeys ... or even a cartload?
