I used to really enjoy the original CSI, can't stand the Miami one (don't mind the procedural but the characters are horrid!) and I still enjoy the occasional CSI:NY but I don't really follow them. One thing I found with those shows is that to become a CSI you have to be incredibly beautiful and not mind flicking your long hair all over the crime scene and/or corpse.
The one "procedural" show I never miss is NCIS, it's got a lot more heart than the other ones. It still has the science but is much more character driven than the CSI franchises.

I still go for the original CSI.

I totally agree on the CSI Miami, it started pretty badly and then they killed off the only character I liked. Its not just the hair flicking, its the fact that a whole team of supposed scientists can't do a thing without being told to (and why and how) by their boss who seems to do nothing at all! It’s terrible writing, as if we the audience are so stupid we need every detail spelled out for us.

CSI NY I'll watch, I think it has some of the same problems but the acting is better and aside from Melina Kanakaredes, who I just don't think fits, the cast seems to mesh well. Plus I'll watch Gary Senise in pretty much anything.

NCIS is one of my all time favorites (Mark Harmon, umm). I was a little worried after the whole Kate thing but, surprisingly, it didn’t hurt the show at all! It is more realistic I think and I care about the characters; the writing is fabulous and you just can’t beat Ducky and Abby.

I like procedural dramas, I think more than any other TV, but I like to be treated as an intelligent person The original CSI did that I think and certainly NCIS does, I also like L&O CI and Criminal Minds for that reason. And as for the only beautiful people with flipable hair and mostly well tailored and expensive looking clothes being crime scene techs, well it is TV.

I loved Malcolm in the Middle but didn’t watch it much, Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston made the show; I agree there should have been away to continue it, they weren’t going to be any saner just ‘cause the kids grew up!

And of course, M*A*S*H was and is the ultimate in TV; you’ve got comedy, drama, activism, and a darned fine cast!

solosater, you and I are on the same page for TV shows.
Duck and Abby are by far my favorite characters on NCIS (which says a lot 'cause the whole cast is so well written it is hadr to pick favorites), and I too would watch Gary Sinese in just about anything.
We watch M*A*S*H regularily, The History Channel up here shows 2 episodes back to back daily. Was watching it the other day and there was this very familiar looking young black actor. I was sure I knew who it was but had to watch the credits to be sure. Sure enough, it was Lawrence Fishburne at about age 18 or so. (They listed him as Larry which made me laugh)

I saw that episode and remember that I recognized him but don't remember the plot, I kinda think it was a sad one, yes?

And now he's on CSI. I was not a happy camper when William Petersen left the show, but "Larry" will be a fine addition.

I haven't really watched CSI since just before Grissom left. I did see one with "Larry". He seemed weird, but a good character.

I've gotten only two, maybe tree episodes since he came on board.

It's cool because instead of replacing William Petersen with a character like Grissom, they brought in a seasoned man but one who was new to the job, Larry plays a doctor and a professor who Grissom meets on a case and then mentions that a slot would be opening up. He inters the CSI world at the bottom, as a "CSI 1" so he doesn't replace Grissom he fills a spot on the roster and he's learning; forensics is new to him.

I think they did a great job, they could have ruined it, I think they may have saved it.
