Not intending to derail the current topic, but I just noticed that today is InTheOcean's birthday. Happy Birthday to our young friend!

Thank you, bugoy! Wow, I haven't been on TD in a few months! I started high school this year so I am super busy. (To think, it's been 5 years since I joined TD!) Glad to see everyone is still drawing, and improving all the time!

Baldur appeared at an event as Santa last night. This particular one is one I've been doing for about 10 years now.
Something new happened this time around.
A number of the kids took selfies with Santa. That was fun.

Good Morning indigo, can you please paraphrase the tweet here?
By the time I got there this morning it was gone.
Thanks, B

This takes me to a picture of the woman, Santa, and 2 cats but I can't find the start button.

It's just a picture. I thought we might see these two adorable fur balls in action but we don't. My two cats would have done exactly that and or sit on Santa's head!! Ouch! Painful! LOL! -J*

That was a great photo indigo! Ok, I know there are a lot of cat lovers here, and I need some help. I have a kitty that is about 12 years old and the vet assumes (I think) that she has feline herpes. She has had an ulcer in her mouth as long as I have had her and she has very sensitive skin. She has always had little scabs around her neck but they usually heal. For the last few months though she has been scratching herself bloody all around her neck. We finally put an e-collar on her and she is on the third one as she destroys them trying to scratch. We have tried every form of lysene we can find and she refuses to take it. That is a supplement that is supposed to help. The vet doesn't have much more in the way of a solution. She has recommended soft paws, the little things you glue on their claws to keep them from doing damage, though I can't imagine that working. She has also suggested a comfy collar that I see online. It is inflatable. I just want her to be free again to come and go outside. She can't do that now because of the collar. Has anyone had a similar problem with a cat? I wish Dragon was still here.

Oh and thanks Lizzi. Same to you and everyone!!

mdawrcn - sorry I'm just reading this. Keeping your cat from scratch prevents skin damage, but I think we all get the cat still is not feeling great. Nothing worst that an itch that can't be scratched.

Some thoughts - 1) get a new vet - call an animal ER clinic and get a referral 2) allergies? Try some Benadryl (vet will help get right dose), and try one type of protein for each two week period (fish, rabbit, chicken) to see if there is a better result. 3) add some salmon oil over the food - this could be an autoimmune condition and the salmon oil helps with dry skin/eyes/mouth and also helps immune function 4) get blood work done - so much can be told 5) set out pie pans with soapy water under beds, chair etc in the areas where your cat lives to check for fleas.

My best kitty prayers your direction.

Normal

If computer is cooperating, here is a quote from A Word a Day today, in honor of the horrific shootings yesterday in Paris:

'Respect for religion' has become a code phrase meaning 'fear of religion'.
Religions, like all other ideas, deserve criticism, satire, and, yes, our
fearless disrespect. -Salman Rushdie, writer (b. 1947)

Thanks for sharing that great quote, Normal. I've often wondered what kind of a flaccid god required minions to carry out his revenge for his bruised ego? It reminds me of the prayer that says, "God, please save me from your followers".

I have no problem with people who look at religion as belief in a higher power that will elevate their lives and behavior. What I am bothered by is any religion that refuses to allow any critical thinking at all. Any group that uses the name of a god for destructive purposes is using god's name for evil. To me, that is what using god's name in vain should really mean instead of cursing.
