Where I start, it usually depends on the palette and the pieces I will be using. I start somewhere in the middle where I think has the most difficult area to make without having to redraw it multiple times as I invest more time into it (with the amount of data flash was able to withhold it was very important to try not to repeat areas already drawn or glitches begin to appear and playbacks don't finish entirely.) Other times I'll try out Qsilv method and make a very quick outline sketch of what I want and where I want certain features to lie. It really depends on the drawing. I find for me it guides the artist more so than the artist guides it.

i began at doodling actually and now I am looking at all the possible psychological characterisation that can go behind a particular portrait- this is helping me in my poetry also as i am trying to move on to narrative poetry- overall it is a study in patience and hard work. I am use textbooks of psychology that i study as inspirations and make customized art that would suit their covers better than the usual trite stuff. i don't really create pics of people that much usually just random stuff here and there (i wouldn't really call them works of art:( ) but i usually just start of with the background and work my way in. :]

I'm use to working in oils. And layering and reworking. So background first laying to general shapes amd adding detail. However, I have been working on using certain edges of pieces to get more color dimension, in which case the piece demands a direction. Eg. Top to bottom, left to right...
