If you're still pursuing the same face, I will be intrigued to know who, once you feel you cnan tell us! Meanwhile, we see some nice work on these fellows.

I was trying to copy a pic of David Bowie with little success (4 attempts). My best effort was the 1st one until I cleared it by mistake :( ...I'm blaming the person who interrupted me Lol!!!!!!

ahh! That unintentional click that destroys hours of work... All TDers have been there! Don't worry, anyway this is a fine pic. Not easy to do portraits. I think D. Bowie has a shorter nose :-)

You're right clorophilla, his nose is shorter but at least this has all been good practice. I've learnt a lot in a very short time from all of you. I spend ages studying all your pictures to see how its done!

Hi & welcome! Love expressive furry critters, & your sense of color! On the portraits, may I suggest a trick? Trace the key points and shadow areas onto saranwrap w/ red ink, lay it on the monitor - then think "sculpture" vs "drawing"! ;>

Thanks Osilv...that's very helpful advice. I'm in the UK so I am guessing that saranwrap is what I know as clingfilm, a seethrough self cling food wrap?

Yep - or a sheet of stiff acetate (I save flat sections from all kinds of packaging) but then you have to tape it to the screen. Zooming way in (Ctl+ several times) is handy too; plan ahead for size!

Packaging...that's a good idea, thanks Osilv
