ok, I'll go out on a limb and add my five cents...
- it says "Aids", NOT HIV
- there are other aids.... nurse's aids, i.e.
- IF the person's talking about the disease, it should('nt) read "Aids IS funny", not "Aids ARE funny"....so why not just assume, since the plural is used, s/he is talking about a group of aids of some sort and leave it at that.
If s/he is really talking about the disease that ignorantly, any complaining we do just makes them happy, as they got what they wanted: attention....... and they are best punished by being ignored.

I remember a picture of a cigarette pack I did last year, and the complaints and accusations I had to endure in the comments there....
I think sometimes we get too hot headed because we interpret something one way while someone else MAY (!!!) have been thinking something completely harmless.

So....let's let this go and concentrate our efforts and time on the NICE art out there and just let this get buried in the gallery. Cheers!

Kugush, I was thinking similar thoughts to yours. As well as the value of of free speech and free expression in artwork, whether some/most like the speech/expression or not.

Hey! I'm not even here anymore.

But AIDS is funny and it IS sad as hell! And crap does stack that high.

No one ever said this was a kids site. If they're here then they're contributing. God knows they're not here for a laugh.

Spam. I'm a nice guy. I really am. But I am so far more afraid of YOU than either of these posts. And the sad thing is that I could spend an eternity and not be able to explain why - at least not to you.

We need to stop putting on all this padding and take some lumps. We need to let kids take some lumps too.

Think for a minute about all those little kiddies running amok on this site and pressing next page and next page and next page over and over again. What are they looking for and why are they looking for it?

Why are they here?

The only kids (3 of them) that I know of on this site I have introduced to it. I would invite each and every one of those kids to a debate about whether AIDS was funny or not. I would not - ever - even consider - hiding from them the idea that some idiots (myself included) think it is actually funny.

But you wouldn't understand - EVER - what I think of as funny.

You think funny is a mean spirited thing. Whereas I cherish humor and it's ability to heal and to explain and to teach.

Spam, I am afraid of you and everyone else who would censor anything - especially to protect the children.

Protect them from what? Life? D'uh. They're alive too. They are not Hummel christmas ornaments or Norman Rockwell paintings. They have as much self-interest and ego as you or I. What exactly are you protecting them from?

Really.

Well, hiya Ron - long time no see !

My tuppence worth.. the Report button is there for anyone to use - and it's been misused in the past...

.. very young children should only ever play on the web (including ThinkDraw) or anywhere else, with adult supervision...

.. kids who have free access to the web can see a whole lot worse things than what's on ThinkDraw - and please note, even if they don't have unsupervised access to the web, they get to see & hear much worse things OFF ThinkDraw - e.g. at school, on TV, etc..

I think a 2 hour turn around from TD is actually pretty fantastic, and that's how responsive they've been ever since I joined 18 months ago.

I see our Spam has left again, and so sorry to see that. Doesn't matter what anyone says, as we are all entitled to our own opinion. Parental control is way out of hand in every situation, as most parents need some control themselves. Our world is different now, and sad to say children grow up much faster than they did when I was young.

Just so sorry to see Spam leave, and will miss her and her art.

So a bad person here is anyone who is deemed a bad influence on young children? Perhaps an adult-only section would provide an area where artistic expression isn't fettered by that constraint? After all, art in all its forms is a reflection of reality and reality is not always sugar-coated.

The cause is that most persons here are old fashioned at the winters of theier lives and things are blown all out out of proportion. Younger people are far more flexible in the way they respond to opinions of others. Ufortunatedly to those of advanced age when thinking becomes laborious any opposite opinion or passing remark is viewed as a full frontal attack on their very tenuous mental stability. Animosities are created collusions of the like-mindedly numbed formed and inrolerance becomes a virtue . How sad.

As the red flag allows to remove from the gallery really offensive or vulgar pics (not just "sexual" subjects, but also racism, hate, violence etc), I think that it's enough to click discretly on the flag, avoiding to report the pic and the link in the forum. In fact, this gives to the pic a not well deserved celebrity.

I don't like censure, but on the other side, I don't like either gratuitos vulgarity or insults...
We know very well that the report function has been misused in past; but we know also that in this case the artist could signal to TD staff the unworthy treatment and be restored.
I think TD is at 99% a gentle, fair, smart and funny place where we can enjoy toghether throught creativity and art; the reamining 1% may well be handled by TD itself without the need of moderators or censors.

Radrook profile used to say age in mid-60s, if I'm not mistaken. Now says 30s. Just in case anyone's feelings were actually hurt even slightly by this assault on age.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. He's is acting more like an 8 year old, so who knows what his true age is. Hope he finds a cure for whatever is ailing him.

In my opinion sexism and ageism are not attractive qualities

The comedy here is Radrook posturing as a Christian. If there is anything he does not know, It is not worth knowing.

yes, I also remember it so. 60-and-something old. Who know? Now I see also he deleted all his pics... pity! As there are some that worths.

Ah, isn't this nice... we have a forum thread where we can go and view all of the "offensive" pics instead of letting them drift off into gallery oblivion... This will make it so much easier for me to become offended...

Thank you wise tread creator...
