anotherronism

I did a thing with autumn's green-ball guy. It was just playing around.

But I've been here a couple weeks now and have picked up on some other "themes" or "series" (Dr. Bear, Pole Dancing, Mine/Autumn's Green Ball Guy, Etc...)

In the comments to my own pics there have been references to the Dr. Bear "series". But there is no search function on the site so I'm only vaguely aware of what's even being discussed.

I think a "Series" main section on the site would be a fantastic idea...

Draw, Gallery, Top 5, Showcase, Series, Forum and Feedback

Not sure what (or how) a piece or pieces would be vetted but the idea is intriguing.

Thinkdraw is, or appears to be, about using the old noggin to create with limited resources. But there are times when the work transcends this single limitation and offers more than a single piece of work.

Series could be simple like my dumb comic strip or things like variations on a them or the same piece done across different Themes.

I just think it would be an organizational method which would complement the very idea of ThinkDraw.

But it's just a thought.

my understanding is that the showcases act as these series at the moment. however, rachel is always more than happy to put together special pages for linked work. you can see matthew's guide to the 'eye of the tiger', in decembers' top 5 and nancylee and lynspotters quilts along with the wonderful 'where in the world' series.

i suggested that dr bear should have his own pages, but i think that he needs a book. also there are some amazing works (now lost in depths of the gallery) that would form stunning series. e.g. birds, butterflies, gummy bears etc.

i think a search function would be wonderful and enable people to find work that is linked.

perhaps if we asked nicely we could get both!!

rachel?

I love the idea.

And I'd make it part of the (yearned for) search feature, much as amazon and ebay etc use "categories" ...so you can choose to search within "all" or limit it to inside any one of a long drop-down list.

Cheers!

Yeah, I agree. My "Yin and Yang" serial is actually following a storyline and it would be so cool if there was a better way to access that.

I've already requested that portraits of famous people might be put together. Haven't had a reply yet.

ThinkDraw

Thanks for your suggestions.

We would love to make 'Series' a bigger part of this site. Ideally giving everyone the option to create series pages of their own.

There are 3 pages of this type so far:
http://www.thinkdraw.com/howToDraw.php
http://www.thinkdraw.com/whereAmI.php
http://www.thinkdraw.com/whatPainting.php

We will look into adding a famous people page, and a page of the story of "Yin and Yang" when it is finished.

Any other suggestions are welcome too.

Oh my gosh Rachel, thank you very much! I'm so honored to be considered in the same type of category with much more talented artists. Again, wow!!

Whoops! I also forgot to ask how we can get on certain pages. Like on the "Do you recognize these famous paintings?" page, is it possible to add my Dali picture?

It's here: http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=9378

If it's not good enough to make it on there, I completely understand. Thanks in advance.

Faithfool - thanks for the link. Unfortunately the painting you drew is still copyrighted. That is why only older paintings where used on the current painting page. There are lots of good and more modern pictures on Think Draw that we might add on a new page without showing the originals.

This pic is from the most famous artist of our era... I am sure we can get approval from the artist herself... http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=20920
