Here's what a punch buggy is. Didn't know about this.

Thanks for the additions, Shanley ... and thanks for the info on 'punch buggy', puzzler. I'd never heard of it ... and I've been around long before the 60's. Just goes to show how much I'm unaware of.

Much as I'd like to take the credit, I think that you meant , marius.

You are very welcome, Login. I think many appreciate your collection (just to think there are 7 pages with thumbnails showing how to draw the same things in so many ways....quite an inspiration source!)

Memory Lane

Hm... didn't know 'bout "punch-buggy", but a car game we used to play -- "padiddle" -- sounds similar. Looking it up on the net offers even more variations *I* hadn't run into. Scary.

Basically, packed tight in a vehicle hauling a stock-trailer, bored, already a mite punchy from the fumes of that quintessential mixture of horses, alfalfa, and leather, plus road dust, gasoline and just too many people, we'd be on the last leg of a too-many hour drive to a rodeo. Think college age. Think hormones.

First person to notice a car with one headlight calls "padiddle!" --and scores one point. If it turns out to have been a motorcycle (or the other headlight had merely been blocked), that person lost the unearned one (of course) but also one more for penalty... or each other person gained one. Rule variations were set at the start of the game each time. For us the score was cumulative and the pay off didn't occur along the way, but at the end of the trip.

The payoff was gender specific. Guys got to kiss girls; girls got to punch guys. Arguably the wickedest part was that the girls would hit exactly the same spot (usually the deltoid muscle --side of the shoulder/upper-arm) until that spot was seriously red and might even turn rather white in the center... potentially a real problem for bronc riders and ropers. But hey, they were the sort who spent most their lives with cuts and bruises in various stages of healing anyhow... I probably limped through 50% of my own teens.
