Baldur

It is possible it was in the comments attached to one of matthew's or even Tim42's drawings, but I seem to think it was in one of mine

If Pirate Radio Baldur ever sneaks in long enough I'll do another cooking segment. I think it's time for 'Green Goddess' salad dressing to make a comeback

Yes, our breath is getting less bated all the time.

mm hm... I was remembering that chat on tattoos. Y'know, you and Luna et al, deleting things you deem unworthy (and Raina getting deleted "accidentally"), is kinda putting pressure on my resolve not to collect/hoard/clutter up my hard drives... ; P

Now the egg/avocado goulash has me curious about what twist you'll introduce to Green Goddess...

...pulling up a seat 'longside the others... waaaaaitinnng...... ;>

Perhaps we'll just have to come up with our own recipes. I must have something in my recipe book that I can pass along. Hmmm...

CRACKLE.. crackle ......CRacKle.....
Hello and welcome back to Radio Baldur 'All Baldur, all the time'.
Due to overwhelming public outcry I am back on the air to present another recipe
Today's recipe is Baldur's take on a classic salad dressing, which I call:
'Greener Goddess'

mince very finely:

4 Tablespoons of fresh parsley (or 2Tbsp dried)
4Tablespoons of fresh Chives (or 2Tbsp dried)
3 or 4 large basil leaves (or 1Tbsp dried)
3 tablespoons of dill weed (or 1.5 Tbsp dried)

combine them in a bowl with:
1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 teaspoon celery seed, pummeled to death in a mortar
1 small clove of garlic, smashed
the juice of one lemon, de-seeded
freshly grated black pepper

stir in:
1 cup mayonnaise

stir in cold water a little at a time to get a thinner pourable consistency.
chill.

Notes, fresh herbs are better than dried but use what you have.
I use a reduced fat mayonnaise but the recipe is flexible in that regard, it can also be prepared with sour cream or yogurt, you can replace the lemon juice with lime juice or white vinegar even.
Other herbs are equally welcome; try adding tarragon or chervil.

See you again soon on our next episode of Radio Baldur

Right! (assembling ingredients) Ooo! I can crush a garlic and pummel celery seed to death ... hahaaaaaa!

93. 27 Mar 2009 12:21

Dragon

I love recipes that require me to pummel and smash!

those are always the best recipes

the original 'classic' version of the Green Goddess recipe called for anchovy paste, not exactly Baldur the vegetarian wants to be eating.

I think your garlic and lemon (with maaaybe a bit of sharp stinky cheese??) could pick up the slack where the anchovy was... tho, um, I gather you're also avoiding salt?

98. 27 Mar 2009 19:17

Baldur

I'm not totally avoiding it, because there's salt already present in the mayo.
Next time I make it (there's almost a pint in my refrigerator right now) it will be using yogurt, and it may really need the salt. We'll see

Dragon

I avoid avoiding salt at every opportunity.

I don't enjoy highly salted food anyway, so it's not too much of a challenge.
