I thought that a new topic of inspiring quotes for Artists would be nice. Add new ones as you find them. I liked this one because I am constantly doubting myself and questioning my sense of design. This reminds me that it is normal to do that. So in light of that, here is the first quote.

"The greater the artist, the greater the doubt. Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize."

-Robert Hughes

What is the use of painting a stormcloud if the storm be not therein?

Quote is not quite verbatim, but close enough. I forgot who this came from and thought it might be Leonardo, then Constable, but I just (re)discovered it's from my old favorite Albert Pinkham Ryder, and I must have memorized it about fifty years ago which was when I last read a book about him.

This comes courtesy of "A Word a Day," which puts a nifty quote after each daily definition.

"Art should be like a holiday: something to give a man the opportunity to see things differently and to change his point of view." Paul Klee (1870-1941)

A Van Gogh quote, found in FEB Science of Mind magazine:

Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well.

That is such a good quote, Normal. I tend to agree.
