Perhaps your expertise is sufficient, 09adam2963, to help me with a problem? The duct that connects my dryer to the vent has come loose from the dryer and the vent. It needs to be reconnected, but the space between the dryer and the wall is SO narrow. How can I do that?

you need to buy a replacement vent hose and fit it to your dryer. i need your dryer's model number to help you with the right part and how to install it

also pull your dryer forward or it will overheat!

Thanks, Adam! I managed to reconnect it by straining and stressing. Hope it stays put, but I like your idea. I will keep it in mind for later.

it should stay put. just dont forget not to tug out the dryer! or it will come off again

It came loose again yesterday! And I did not tug on anything. It's just old and succumbing to vibration. I must get some new tape to secure it.

tape is the worst idea i have EVER heard of! that can easily catch fire! if you user tape be careful, cos if you use wrong tape, it will catch alight. what i would do (i dont have a vented dryer) is screw it in. you must drill holes in the wall and screw the vent in. make sure to have a ring on the end of the vent first. and about the vibration - check the rollers or bearings (again depending on model) you can tell if the bearing is bad by banging your hand against the inside top of the drum. if it goes up then it would be easier to get a whole new drum. if it stays still or you have no bearing. do the following: if it dosent replace the belt. if vibration continues: replace the motor. if vibration continues: get a new dryer. if you dont have a bearing. get the whole drum out. if the rollers dont turn freely, replace them. if vibration continues, replace belt, if it continues, replace the motor, if it STILL continues, get a new dryer. before you get a new belt, motor and drum, check you arent overloading the dryer. the dryer must NEVER exceed over the halfway line. clothes will NEVER dry if its above the halfway line! (unless its a duvet (which isnt recommended for the dryer as it could catch in the back of the dryer) or a comforter.) if you dont think you are, to be sure, run the dryer empty for 2 minutes. if it vibrates, replace it. if it dosent, you ARE overloading it.

The tape I was referring to is metallic, of course. Your info is quite amazing. Thank you for taking the time to give me such a detailed response. I think I had better call a handyman to do this job!

17. 25 Jun 2015 03:45

09adam2963

probably a good idea, as you could mess the whole thing up.

18. 25 Jun 2015 06:08
